Special expertise
I help adults and young people reshape complex stress, overwhelm and anxiety into a felt sense of possibility. This can be within a context of disability, depleted mental health, or trauma.
When possible and appropriate, I like to assist people in understanding how their bodies (including brains and nervous systems) work physiologically to process the world. I love working outdoors in a 'walk and talk' format and with spatial methods. I also apply a broader systemic lens to providing neurodivergence-informed support around functional development, capacity building, self-insight and advocacy.
My art therapy training is specialised in dance movement therapy (DMT) through Uni Melb's Master of Creative Arts Therapy program. The way I work doesn't generally look like 'dancing' in the way that most people would think of it - it's more about tuning in to what the body is doing to navigate the world.
Key areas of interest:
-Autistic experience, particularly how this contributes to individual sense of self and meaning
-Complex traumatic stress and the nervous system
-Identity formation and re-formation
-Giftedness and associated complexity
-Existential concerns/conflicts (e.g. reality, consciousness, meaning, death and dying, altered states)
