What is Professional Indemnity Insurance?

Regular interaction with clients is a consistent part of any creative arts therapy practice and may be a daily occurrence. With this in mind, you may face situations where your clients look to hold you responsible for harm they deem to have received as a result of your professional services.

Professional Indemnity insurance (PI) protects you against liability or allegations of liability for injury or damages that have resulted from a negligent act, error, omission, or malpractice that has arisen out of your professional capacity as a creative arts therapist. PI protects creative arts therapists by ensuring that your legal defence is coordinated and paid for if a claim is made against you. Your PI also covers the cost of patient compensation, or damages.

Why an exclusive program and broker?

ANZACATA provide members with a comprehensive, value-added program that promotes investment in practice risk management. With the new and exclusive program brokered by BMS, members will have access to services including:

  • dedicated program website at www.anzacata.bmsgroup.com
  • more protection for professional indemnity insurance
  • expanded limits of coverage
  • isolating the low risk profile of arts therapy from the broader psychotherapy industry, ensuring premiums accurately reflect your practice risk.
  • an insurance program that is designed with the input of members, enabling the profession to respond to its own practice needs
