Changes to the ANZACATA Constitution (and what they mean for you)

At this year’s AGM on 16 October, ANZACATA’s Board will ask members to vote on a Special Resolution to update our Constitution. To help you understand what’s changing and why, we’re hosting a member webinar ahead of the AGM.

Why we're updating the Constitution

The proposed amendments to our Constitution lay the foundation for three critical strategies:

• Full Membership of National Alliance of Self Regulating Health Professions (NASRHP), to ensure our accreditation is independently validated and operating at best practice.
• Application to be regulated by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), shifting our external focus to increase the understanding and value of creative arts therapies.

Importantly, the changes do not alter member control of ANZACATA. Voting rights, director nominations and elections remain exclusively with Professional Members.

The new Constitution’s planned start date would be 1 June 2027 to ensure sufficient time to prepare for and implement related policy changes.

What we'll cover in the webinar

• An overview of the three key areas of change: NASRHP alignment, ACNC alignment and governance clarifications and their rationale
• Change in ANZACATA's purpose in the Constitution to strengthen the focus on client safety and wellbeing rather than primarily focused on member services.
• What the proposed changes mean in practice for your membership category and accreditation including:
• • Updating the constitution to include all membership categories
  • Changing ‘Registered Arts Therapist’ to ‘Accredited Practising Arts Therapist’
  • New categories for non-practising members such as Retired Members and Affiliates
• Dedicated time for feedback and to answer your questions.
